Barnabas Ministries is a Faith based mentoring program in need of adult volunteers to meet and interact 1-2 hours a week for a minimum of 1 year with a high risk teen in Allegan, Ottawa or Barry County. Must have own transportation. A required training is provided by Barnabas Ministries. We are not looking for counselors, social workers or psychologists. We are looking for men and women who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and sense His call on their life to be the reflection of His light in the life of a hurting teen. Often these teens have little or no positive adult role models in their lives. Your job is to spend time with your teen doing things that you both enjoy. We match you up with a teen of the same gender that has similar interests. Having a mentor helps the teens stay focused on truth, gives them hope, and helps them by simply making them feel wanted and special.
Must have a personal and growing faith in Jesus Christ.Minimum age is 21 (special consideration may be made.) Must be consistently attending the same church for at least one year. (college students: attend chapel) be planning to live locally for a minimum of one year. Complete the Mentor application process: -Fill out and return application -Obtain three required references (one Pastoral) -Attend the Basic Training Course (Part 1 & 2) -Meet with Barnabas Ministry staff for interview
