As an Asset Management Project (AMP) Board of Directors for Council #3, Council #3 represents one fifth of all the aged, disabled, and handicapped individuals in Ventura who occupy government owed housing. We are one of five AMPs through out the City of Ventura and our residents number 196 with the majority aged and handicapped.

Description:
Per 24CFR Part 964, this resident council board is comprised only of residents of these housing units and the purpose of the council is:

  • promote well-being and fellowship among residents
  • improve the quality of life and resident satisfaction
  • provide a link between residents and the Housing Authority of San Buenaventura
  • represent residents concerns to and suggestions to Housing Authority management
  • actively participate with Housing to advise and assist in all aspects of housing operations
  • receive and register grievances and assure fair hearings
  • participate in self help initiatives to enable residents to create a positive living environment
  • sponsor gatherings and community activities for residents

We are the voices of the residents to the Housing Authority. We are a non-profit entity under the aegis of TRIAD 501-3c, the non-profit arm of the Housing Authority of San Buenaventura .

History:
Citywide elections were held in May 2007, and all five board of directors and the citywide board of directors were sworn in the last of May 2007 by the Ventura City Housing Commission, whom we advise through the Housing Authority CEO. The combined citizens board represent 2,100 residents of public housing in the city of Ventura. These resident boards are the first organized in recent memory.
