Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center (SAEHC) provides assistance to families with children and individuals towards self-reliance.
Description:
Currently, 11 different programs are offered to provide vital shelter, transitional housing, and community services to homeless women and families with children. On average, 68% of those we serve are children. SAEHC provides a variety of specialized services for children including tutoring, individual and group counseling, assessments, a primary health clinic, and Head Start. SAEHC Family Shelter is the only emergency shelter in Sacramento that can accommodate two parent families, single fathers, and allows boys over the age of fourteen to remain with their family.
History:
SAEHC has served the homeless of Sacramento for over 35 years. This agency was started as a small shelter serving 7 homeless families. Now, over 1,300 men, women, and children are assisted each year, an average of 350 participants a day.
