Overview
The Kule Loklo volunteer assists park staff in maintaining the Kule Loklo cultural exhibit for educational purposes.
Duties
- Construct and maintain traditional Coast Miwok structures and cultural exhibit landscaping. This may involve gathering natural materials, cutting branches and trees, scraping bark from trees, framing structures, clipping brush, trimming trees, raking and mowing, digging holes, gardening, pulling weeds, and lifting materials
- Split firewood
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Volunteers must be able to perform unskilled manual labor using basic hand tools, such as rakes, hammers, clippers, pruning shears, shovels, etc., be able to perform occasional heavy lifting from 25 to 50 pounds, and walk or carry loads over uneven ground. Volunteers must be willing to work in temperature extremes and in areas that may contain ticks, poison oak, and/or hantavirus. Volunteers must also be able to follow directions, work independently, and be sensitive to and respectful of differing cultural traditions.
Knowledge of Native American traditional building skills and native plants is helpful.
Schedule and Time Commitment
Kule Loklo Workdays are scheduled for the second Saturday of every month, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, throughout the year.
The Kule Loklo Workday is a drop-in program where volunteers are not required to work more than one day at a time. However, volunteers are welcome to work as many of the Kule Loklo workdays as desired.

Group Type
Individuals and groups are welcome to participate. Groups, however, should register in advance (see below).
Minimum Age
Minimum age is 13 years old. Volunteers under 18 must have a signed parental consent form. Please contact us (see below) for more information.
Accommodations
Housing and camping/RV sites are unavailable.

Point Reyes is located approximately 35 miles north of San Francisco on Highway 1 along the west coast of California. Travelers may approach the park from the winding scenic Highway 1, either northbound or southbound. You can also reach the park via Sir Francis Drake Boulevard or Point Reyes/Petaluma Road.
