Instructional Assistants help our teachers deliver environmental education classes on and off site to children at levels pre-K through 5th grade. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach pre-selected material, and handle/show education animals in small group setting.
- Supervise hands-on activities.
- Assist Museum Instructor with set-up and take-down of class materials.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Outgoing, personable and able to relate to children.
- Able to speak in public and work in a classroom situation.
- Interest in natural history and the environment.
- Reliable, flexible, energetic.
TRAINING PROVIDED. Next Training Series: Saturday, September 6 and 20, 9am-1pm, and Saturday, October 4, 9am-12noon. TIME COMMITMENT AND HOURS: Hours: Primarily Monday-Friday mornings. Time Commitment: Assisting with at least 3-4 one-hour classes per month, during the school year, with a 6-month commitment. (IA's have the option to volunteer in other ways during the summer.)
