Through the redistribution of goods, we hope to change the way people view their stuff, their relationships, their community and their planet. We promote recycling and reuse to help alleviate the traumas of poverty, and to involve communities in working together to meet their needs.

Description:
The Baltimore Free Store collects donated and salvaged items and redistributes them throughout Baltimore - free of charge. We hold one day temporary Free Markets in different locations throughout Baltimore City. We target low-income neighborhoods but do not require one be low income to take items.

While we do seek to relieve the burden of poverty, we are by no means solely focused on that effort. We want all people from all walks of life to give and take at Baltimore Free Store. It's about reuse, relationship, giving, taking, helping, empowering, and transforming.

History:
The Baltimore Free Store has been operating in one way or another since 2000. Over the years it has evolved through different leadership, different ideals, different spaces and different procedures. We have gone from operating out of a van, to a 2-car garage, to an 8,000 square foot warehouse.

It is currently run by all volunteers, and always needs more!
