Mission
To educate, empower and embrace victims as they speak the truth on their journey to justice

Description:
Community Advocates for Family & Youth (CAFY), a non-profit 501c3 volunteer organization, has responded to the call for victim services since 2003. CAFY has developed comprehensive programs to support the total judiciary process and provide victims of violence, involved in the criminal justice and judiciary system, with support services and education. CAFY focuses on crime victims and court proceedings in Prince George’s County by offering case management, court companionship, education and resource referrals. CAFY has serviced over 300 clients since 2003. Solely supported by volunteers, CAFY provides the only formal victim education programs in the state of Maryland. The unique Youth Court Education Program (YCEP) and Adult Courtroom Education (ACE) meet a need – it assists victims in becoming effective witnesses. CAFY provides access to court education in the criminal justice system, expands the availability of criminal justice support services to crime victims, provides community outreach education to non-English speaking and faith-based communities, recruits and trains volunteers and provides continuing development training to existing victim advocate volunteers to enhance their knowledge in victim services.
