Project Garrison, Inc. (PG) is a small, faith-based, community-based nonprofit organization, founded in October 1995 by two clergy. It is located in northwest Baltimore City. Its vision is to be known for excellence in delivery of public safety, faith-based, economic development initiatives and computer technology services that improve the quality of life for at-risk children, youth, economically disadvantaged families and other people affiliated with the communities it serves. Mission - PG collaborates with spiritual leaders, worshippers, residents and other community stakeholders to advance public safety, faith-based and economic development initiatives and deliver human development programs and services.

PG has established a track record of effectively collaborating with numerous houses of worship, community organizations, educational institutions, private and public agencies/organizations to fulfill its vision and mission as exemplified by its recent status as a graduated Weed and Seed Site. Currently Project Garrison has three major goals. They are:
- To advance the delivery of state-of-art technology services to people in northwest Baltimore who use our NW Baltimore Technology Centers located at 3717 Springdale Avenue and 3939 Reisterstown Road.
- To advance the delivery of human services and programs focusing upon enhancing our full-time mentoring program called the Meet-Me-Halfway Mentoring Village Center operating in Garrison Middle School; and
- To facilitate a coordinated and comprehensive public safety initiative called the Northwest Baltimore Drug Free Community Coalition.
History:
A representative sampling of PG’s program history and impact includes the following: • Developed and implemented an annual community organizing mobilization venue, called the Jericho Walk. The event impacted over two thousand community residents and stakeholders over a seven-year period. It also garnered corporate, foundation and political support ranging from Baltimore City Council persons, Maryland State government officials to United States Congress and Senate representatives. • Through participation in the federal government’s competitive bidding process obtained official recognition as an official Weed and Seed Site by the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs and received subsequent funding for 5 consecutive years. • Established a community-based Weed and Seed Safe Haven with a state-of-art Computer Technology Learning Center that became the catalyst for PG’s current technology accessibility initiative. • Designed and implemented “Life Saving Station Community Health & Referral Service Fairs. • Provider of computerized workforce development training for youth and adults; after-School academic enhancement instruction and mentoring activities for children and youth; Pre-GED instruction in collaboration with Baltimore City Community College; case management and related services for an ex-offender re-entry program in partnership with The Enterprise Foundation and National Women’s Prison Program; community policing initiatives in partnership with the Baltimore City Police Department and the State of Maryland US Attorney’s Office; prevention/intervention treatment/referral services geared to prostitute reduction and rehabilitation of other substance abusing residence. Other organizational accomplishments include: • Partnering with the State of Maryland US Attorney’s Office, the Institute of Law and Justice, and the University of Maryland Harbambee Treatment Center to be a sub-recipient of federal funds to setup and provide computer technology training for residents of a public housing unit and its surrounding communities, located in lower Park Heights. • Negotiating an agreement with the Microsoft Unlimited Potential Project to fund the development of two community technology-learning centers that provide Microsoft Office Specialists Pre-Certification and Unlimited Potential training for community residents. • Negotiating agreements with management of two area federally assisted multi-unit housing units and the community to utilize HUD funds in the design, implementation and evaluation of anti-drug programs, building enhancements and public safety initiatives. • Partnering with the Maryland State Arts Council to provide an after-school program that provided training of youth in the use of Photoshop software for the creation and enhancement of multi-source digital artwork. • Partnering with Garrison Middle School, the Gold Smith Family Foundation and Wayland Baptist Church for in-kind resources and funding support of a newly established community-based middle school mentoring program for “at-risk” students. It’s called “Meet-Me-Halfway.” • Partnering with Wayland Baptist Church to provide space for PG’s office and technology center, as well as a computer skills training component for youth participating in the church’s summer program called “Hugs and Kisses.” • Partnering with Commonweal Foundation to receive funding to support the general operation of programs for at-risk children and youth. • 2006 Recognition for work in area reducing drug trafficking and illegal drugs that included an award of funds by Bon Secours Baltimore Health Systems Community Affairs Department.
