CAN's mission is to work in partnership with the community to develop, operate, and support programs that reduce vulnerability and promote personal growth, stability, and self-sufficiency among low-income residents of Baltimore County.

Description:
The Community Assistance Network is dedicated to creating a stronger community and a better way of life for all residents of the Baltimore Region. As the community action agency for Baltimore County and a private nonprofit human services agency we offer the following programs for low-income residents: Housing, Emergency Services and Community Connections, Employment Training and Assistance, Youth Services, (after school and childcare services), and Weatherization activities. We operate two overnight shelters for homeless persons and manage the Baltimore County Fuel Fund.

CAN's headquarters is based in Dundalk. Outreach offices operating around the county are located in Catonsville, Hillendale, Lansdowne, Randallstown and Rosedale.

We have a staff of 30+ full and part-time employees and support from a 16-member volunteer Board of Directors.

History:
CAN was incorporated in 1965 and has been serving low-income and other vulnerable persons for more than 40 years. Annually 13,000 to 15,000 households, representing more than 45,000 persons receive assistance from CAN.
