Through the programs and services of Jewish Community Services (JCS), Jewish families and individuals will be supported in meeting basic needs for economic sufficiency; in living independently, in achieving mental health and competence; and in feeling supported by and connected to the Jewish community in ways that are meaningful to them.

Description:
Jewish Community Services (JCS), an agency of THE ASSOCIATED: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, is a non-profit human service agency which provides a broad range of services to meet the needs of individuals and families in the Greater Baltimore community. JCS offers career services, counseling and therapy, parenting resources, senior resources, addiction services, prevention education, Big Brother/Big Sister matches, teen outreach, psychiatric services, special needs services, service coordination, community information, legal services, and volunteer opportunities.

History:
In 2006, THE ASSOCIATED: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore convened a Visioning Task Force to undertake a thorough analysis of emerging trends in our community and to make recommendations for appropriate responses, for the sake of planning carefully for our community’s future. One outcome of this community analysis was the decision to consolidate existing social services under one umbrella. As a result, four agencies – Jewish Family Services, Jewish Vocational Services, Jewish Addiction Services, and Jewish Big Brother, Big Sister League, with rich histories of service dating back to 1856 – joined together to form Jewish Community Services (JCS), which was launched on July 1, 2008. By uniting these agencies into a seamless, integrated human service organization, JCS can more effectively respond to the diverse, multi-dimensional needs of those in our community.
