The Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic, Inc. fulfills wishes for local children who are fighting life-threatening medical conditions.

Description:
Wish Granter volunteers help to make the wishes come true for the children we serve. They meet with the children to interview them, help the family fill out the paperwork, help plan the wish and then deliver the wish in the form of a "wish granting." While the wish is being planned they keep their child excited and looking forward to their wish by sending little "while you wait" gifts. The Wish Granters make the wish extra special for the child with whom they are working.

This is a long term volunteer opportunity. Time commitment depends on the type of wish you are working on and how many at one time. The interviews and granting’s almost always take place in the evening or on a weekend. You schedule this with the family and your wish partner. Flexibility in schedule is fairly important.

There is an application process, telephone interview, background check and training to become a wish granter. Wish granter's must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
