The National Kidney Found. of MD is a nonprofit organization seeking to prevent kidney & urinary tract diseases, improve the health & well being of patients and their families affected by such diseases and increase the availability of 'all organs' for transplantation.
Description:
We are a nonprofit organization that has been awarded the coveted "Seal of Excellence" from the Maryland Assn. of Nonprofit Organizations (MANO) for our high degree of integrity and professionalism. We provide free educational materials to the public upon request, offer several 'free' kidney screenings annually and offer 'patient emergency assistance' as well as transportation assistance to those who require help as a last resort. We endeavor to educate the public about the dire ramifications of kidney disease and will provide speakers to organizations or clubs when requested. It is our greatest hope to eradicate kidney disease in this lifetime!
History:
Since 1955, the NKFMD has been the leading voluntary health organization dedicated to easing the impact of kidney & urinary tract diseases on individuals and families in our community. We have been awarded the MANO "Seal of Excellence." and this year, will celebrate our 50th anniversary! The NKF has been named one of "America's 100 Best Charities" by Worth Magazine.
