The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases.
Description:
The Arthritis Foundation meets its mission by 1)supporting research, 2)providing programs and services such as special land and exercise programs, self help courses and support network, education programs for the public, patients and health care professionals, information and referral including over 50 brochures on arthritis-related topics, and more, 3)advocating on issues that affect people with arthritis both locally and nationally, 4) offering a membership program and special events such as the Arthritis Walk, Jingle Bell Run/Walk, golf tournaments and Lifetime Achievement Award dinner to help support the research, public health and public policy activities conducted by the Chapter.
History:
The Arthritis Foundation, Maryland Chapter was founded in 1948 and was a founding chapter of the national organization. The Chapter has been in continuous operation since that time serving Marylanders with arthritis and related diseases. The Chapter territory includes all of Maryland except Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties, 10 Eastern West Virginia Counties and the state of Delaware.
