Our mission is to prevent cruelty to animals by: rescuing animals, finding homes for neglected and abandoned animals, and promoting the health and welfare of animals through education, advocacy and pet population control. BARCS works cooperatively with other animal advocacy groups, shelters and community organization to continually improve the lives of animals.
Description:
We work in conjunction with Baltimore City Animal Control. We are trying to increase adoptions, rescues, and education.
History:
Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) is a non-profit organization. BARCS is the largest animal shelter in the Baltimore area handling over 12,000 animals annually. On July 1, 2005 we took over the administration of the Baltimore City animal shelter. Since then adoptions have increased 1285%! We are making tremendous progress on behalf of the animals. We need your help to promote the adoption of shelter animals.
