Maryland Environmental Trust needs volunteers to ensure that places protected for their conservation values remain undeveloped. Our stewardship responsibility ensures that the integrity of the conservation agreement is maintained over time and we build a positive relationship with the landowner.

Opportunities are available throughout Maryland and can be suited to your interests and location. Visits are made to significant natural areas, farm and forest land, waterfronts, historic viewsheds and scenic landscapes. Great chance to see beautiful parts of Maryland and learn about our farming and rural communities and connections to the land.

History:
The Maryland Environmental Trust (MET) is a statewide land trust governed by a citizen Board of Trustees. It was created by the General Assembly in 1967. Our goal is the preservation of open land, such as farmland, forest land, and significant natural resources. Our primary tool for doing this is the conservation easement, a voluntary agreement between a landowner and MET.
