Last updated on July 31, 2007

The purpose of HAWC is to create social change by taking action against personal and societal patterns of violence and oppression against women and their children. HAWC provides services and support to women residing in 23 cities and towns on Massachusetts' North Shore in order that they may make informed, independent decisions about their futures, and access alternatives to living in a violent situation.

Description:
HAWC depends on the dedication of compassionate and committed volunteers to fulfill its mission to serve victims of domestic violence and their children. Volunteers can assist HAWC in a number of ways, including answering HAWC's 24 hour hotline (can even be done from your home!), childcare at the shelter or during support groups, legal advocacy, support group facilitation, and emergency advocacy response. Trainings for the hotline are held bi-annually (fall and winter), with additional training required for other opportunities. Visit www.helpabusedwomen.org to see when the next training takes place and how you can get involved!
