ABCD North End/West End NSC provides free programs to low-income elders and others to help them remain in their homes and neighborhoods and to help them function independently.
Description:
ABCD North End/West End NSC is a Neighborhood Service Center of ABCD. Our agency provides free assistance with: nutrition (hot meals and emergency food pantry); the housing application process; Italian/English translation; applications for free government services; referrals to other agencies when necessary; fuel assistance; SummerWorks, a paid internship program for low-income teens; a MA Deptartment of Education-funded program for adult ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes; health advocacy and osteoporosis exercises and nutrition classes; and a drop-in center which provides social activities, parties, and field trips.
History:
Our agency is one of fourteen (14) Neighborhood Service Centers of our parent organization, Action Boston Community Development (ABCD) which was started in 1964. ABCD is the largest anti-poverty organization in New England. In Boston, ABCD serves more than 100,000 low-income residents annually. ABCD initiatives promote upward mobility and a better quality of life for people and communities.

ABCD North End/West End NSC is located just a few minutes walk from three MBTA stops: Haymarket, North Station, or Aquarium. 1 Michelangelo Street can be reached by walking into Boston's historic North End. From Hanover Street walk up Charter Street. 1 Michelangelo Street is the first left after passing Salem Street. There is a blue/white ABCD sign on the entry door.
