Career Collaborative transforms the lives of low-income families by providing clients the personal skills, access to job opportunities, and individual support they need to become economically self-sufficient. Our goal is for 70% of our mentees to be continuously employed for at least two years.
Description:
Our services: We help low-income people get and succeed at full-time, permanent jobs that pay at least $20,000 a year, offer medical insurance and provide opportunities for career advancement. The process starts with a free one-month job-readiness/job-search workshop during which we help job candidates prepare résumés and practice their interviewing skills. Most people who complete the workshop qualify for and want individual job search help. We refer these candidates, individually, to appropriate jobs. Most important, once a candidate is hired, we stay in close contact with her/him for at least two years, providing mentoring to help the person remain employed. We serve approximately 200 people a year.
History:
Career Collaborative was founded in December 1997 to provide the intensive individual help low-income people need to get and succeed at good jobs with career potential.
