Rosie's Place is a sanctuary for poor and homeless women in Boston. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to help poor guests maintain their dignity, seek opportunity, and find security in their lives.
History:
Founded in 1974 by Kip Tiernan, Rosie's Place was the first drop-in and emergency shelter for women in the United States. During the past 30 years, we have evolved from simply providing shelter to offering solutions: from the immediate needs of food, clothing, and shelter to the long-term needs of education, advocacy, and health care.
