Starlight is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities.

Description:
Starlight Children’s Foundation serves children and teens suffering from serious illnesses or injuries, which may include cancer, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, heart disease, asthma, kidney disease, and burn injuries. We offer educational programs that help sick children understand medical procedures, manage their illnesses and develop coping strategies; entertainment programs that boost spirits, reduce the need for pain medication, and provide distraction therapy; technology-based programs that connect isolated, sick youth with their peers and enable them to keep up with their schoolwork; and family events that allow families to relax, have fun, and reconnect outside the hospital environment.

As a children’s foundation Starlight differentiates itself by providing a continuum of services from programs in hospitals, educational media accessible by the web and outpatient community events. Starlight is there from the moment of a child’s diagnosis throughout the journeys of their illness. The long-term vision that drives our organization is "Every day. Everywhere. Every family." We are committed to continually expanding our reach so that one day, all seriously ill children and their families – no matter where they live – have the opportunity to access and benefit from Starlight programs on a regular basis.

History:
The Foundation was founded by actress Emma Samms and producer Peter Samuelson. Since 1983 Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation has enhanced the lives of countless children and their families through a network of chapters located in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. To date, this network brightens the lives of over 100,000 children per month
