Technology Center at Tent City
The Tech Center is a joint project between The Tent City Corporation, the School of Architecture and Planning , and the Community Fellows Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in collaboration with TechChange, East West Foundation and Roxbury Community College. The Tech Center is a vehicle to provide free or low-cost access to all aspects of computer related information technology. Among the goals of the Technology Center are to: a) Recruit and train persons in computer technology who have been excluded from the technological revolution and are at increasing risk of joblessness b) Encourage community residents to use information technology as a means of personal and professional development c) Help residents move from being consumers of information to producers/creators of knowledge. The TechCenter offers all of its programs and services at no or low-cost, to community residents. The staff, mostly volunteers, have extensive backgrounds in computer technology and their applications. Contact person: Mel King, Director, (phone), (email) Address:
