The Arc of East Middlesex (EMARC)is a private, not-for-profit service organization established by parents in 1954. Our mission is to provide and promote consumer-driven services for people with developmental disabilities and their families.

The following is an overview of the services The Arc of East Middlesex provides:
-Residential Supports -Job Training and Paid Work in a sheltered workshop -Employment Opportunities at supervised sites in the community -The Center for Emerging Artists -School to Work Transition Services -Respite Care -Family Support Groups -Successful Parenting Program for parents with cognitive limitations -Inclusion Training -Recreation Programs -Journey to Independence
History:
EMARC advocates for support on a local, state, and national level so that people with developmental disabilities and their families can lead more independent and meaningful lives. EMARC serves the communities of Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, Saugus, Lynn, Medford, Malden and Everett. Programs are supported by funds through the Department of Mental Retardation, grants from cities and towns, and private donations.

From Route 93, north or south: follow Rt 93 to Rt. 128 North. From Route 128 North: Take exit 38B. Follow to the 3rd set of lights (you will pass McDonalds and Burger King). Take a left at the light (Washington St). Take 2nd right (just before railroad tracks) on to High St. Take your second right on to Haven St. and bear right at fork on to Gould St. EMARC is immediately on the right. From the North Shore: Take Rt 128 south to exit 39 (North Ave). Turn right heading toward Reading. Go through light, continuing on Washington St. Take second right on to Haven St. and bear right at fork. EMARC is immediately on right.
