Last updated on December 31, 2007

Our mission is to serve as the standard bearer in meeting the concerns of elders in South Norfolk County by planning, promoting and coordinating an integrated system of health and social services in order to encourage a better, stronger and more self-reliant community. We are dedicated to helping older persons lead independent and purposeful lives, and we provide a comprehensive array of services, programs and opportunities which foster that commitment. Our volunteer opportunities include nursing home ombudsmen, meals drivers, meal-site volunteers, money management, and S.H.I.N.E. counselors (Serving Health and Insurance Needs of Elders).

Description:
HESSCO's purposes are to enter into contracts with the Mass. Executive Office of Elder Affairs to operate state-funded programs to meet the needs of local elders. We encourage and promote community service delivery systems designed to allow clients to delay or prevent institutionalization as long and as safely as possible. We also serve as an education resource for our local communities. We enlist and utilize community resources to meet the needs of residents.

History:
HESSCO Elder Services was incorporated in June, l985 as a model consortium of four human service agencies whose intention was to provide a single point of entry for any elder in our service area who had a health or social service need. We were originally incorporated in 1977 as King Philip Elder Services, a not-for-profit organization. For the last 20 years, we have been the key elder service agency in South Norfolk County and we have earned a reputation as the provider of quality, consumer-focused services.
