SOAR 55, headquartered in Newton, is part of a national network of volunteer agencies that help meet a variety of critical community needs through the volunteer service of adults, age 55 and over. We are dedicated to designing and providing meaningful and challenging volunteer programs for motivated and skilled volunteers. There are direct service opportunities in human services, education, the environment, homeland security, health education, etc. There are also opportunities for leadership roles within nonprofit organizations. SOAR 55 services Newton, Wellesley, Weston, Framingham, Natick, Wayland and Ashland. Staff will meet with you to determine you interests, values and schedule and then match you to an appropriate volunteer opportunity.
Description:
SOAR 55 is your volunteer connection. Because SOAR 55 is well connected in the local nonprofit community and has knowledge about a wide range of opportunities, we are able to streamline your search for a rewarding service experience. SOAR 55 also receives valuable administrative support as one of the programs of Newton Community Service Center.
History:
For over 35 years, SOAR 55 has matched older adults to volunteer opportunities in their communities. SOAR 55 is part of RSVP and the Corporation for National & Community Service, the federal volunteer agency that oversees over 750 RSVP projects across the country. RSVPs are mandated to create meaningful service opportunities for adults age 55 plus that help solve community problems.
