The Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence's mission is to eliminate family violence and to strengthen Asian families and communities.The Task Force runs the Asian Shelter and Advocacy Project (ASAP), New England's first and only domestic violence program for battered Asian Families and offers: 24-hour multilingual hotline and emergency shelter; advocacy for legal, health care, housing and public benefits; on-site English as a Second Language tutoring; parenting skills training and children's advocacy; individual counseling and support groups; and information and referral to job training and education opportunities. The Task Force also operates Project Safe, an outreach, education and prevention project; and the Lowell Asian Outreach and Advocacy Project.
History:
The Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence was founded in 1987 to address the need for multicultural and multilingual resources for Asian families facing domestic violence.
