The mission of Hebrew Rehabilitation Center is to maximize the physical and mental potential of elders through an integrated network of care, housing, research and training.

Description:
Our 600+bed healthcare facility at our main campus in Roslindale, Massachusetts boasts world-class geriatric long-term and short-term care and innovative rehabilitative therapies, and includes an internationally renowned Research and Training Institute which is dedicated to medical and social gerontological research. The Center also serves as the site for Great Days for Seniors, an adult day health program. We believe that people can remain active and vigorous until very late in life. We are committed to improving the quality of life for the elderly and preserving dignity in the later years, and this philosophy shapes our approach to caring for the medical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of each person in our care. The average age of the residents is 89 years.

History:
The organization was founded in 1903 by a group of 28 women who saw the need to care for indigent elderly. Originally located on Queen Street in Dorchester, it moved to its present location in 1963. This not-for-profit, non-sectarian organization has evolved into one of the country's premier geriatric facilities devoted to care, research and training. It is affiliated with Harvard Medical School, the Beth Israel-Deaconess Hospital and the UMass/Boston School of Nursing.
