The Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center's mission is to provide comprehensive, culturally competent and affordable primary care services and selected specialties to all families and individuals in the Allston/Brighton and Waltham areas and surrounding communities regardless of circumstance.

Description:
The Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center is a non-profit organization that provides medical, dental, vision and counseling services. Other selected specialties include nutrition programs, prenatal care, family planning, Women's Health Network (breast and cervical cancer), diabetes/heart disease management and podiatry. The health center accepts most commercial insurance and HMOs, and provides assistance to uninsureds in applying for special programs including MassHealth and service discounts.Translation is provided in Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Russian, Bulgarian, French, German, Hindi and Polish. Free transportation to the health center is available in the Allston/Brighton area.

History:
The Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center opened its doors to the community in 1974. Since then it has remained true to its mission, but has changed to reflect the needs of its users and of residents of Allston/Brighton and surrounding communities.
