Description:
One of the largest, most diverse human services providers in the region, the YMCA of Greater Boston provides childcare, adult education, employment and job skills training, drug and alcohol awareness programs, youth development programs, programs for youth at risk, services for seniors, shelter for homeless families, and health and fitness programs through its 73 branches and program centers in the city's neighborhoods and surrounding towns. The guiding principle behind all YMCA programs, activities and services is to encourage the healthy development of the mind, body and spirit for all individuals who directly or indirectly interact with the YMCA.

History:
The YMCA of Greater Boston was founded in 1851 as the first YMCA in the America. Since that time, the YMCA of Greater Boston has consistently stood at the forefront of efforts to enhance the lives of neighborhood children and their families.
