Friends of the Shattuck Shelter (FOSS)is the third largest emergency shelter provider in Greater Boston. For over 20 years FOSS has been a leader in the field of homeless services, providing innovative programs that assist people to move beyond homelessness. In the course of one year we will help 4500 men and women take steps away from homelessness.

Description:
FOSS offers outreach to people who live on the streets, emergency shelter, food and safety, and a comprehensive set of services that provide solutions to the reasons that people are homeless, including: addictions; unemployment; mental illness; education and daily living skills; and affordable housing.


History:
In the 20 years of its history FOSS has developed 17 different programs, frequently providing service to and collaborating with other homeless service providers and has established itself as a leader in the field of homeless services. IMPACT our award winnng employment agency serves homeless adults in Greater Boston. The Women's Violence Prevention Project is a one of a kind program that helps women living on the streets with life saving services and oversees a collaboration of agencies to prevent other women from falling into the cycles of addition, violence and homelessness. Life Lines and The Green Door Project provide health education and counseling to shelters statewide, and our Inreach program assists homeless adult who need specialized support with legal and immigration issues.

Directions:

 Coming from Jamaica Way-Arbor Way continue to go straight; until you get to a rotary, follow directions to Franklin Park Zoo, Franklin Park Golf Course, facing you will see a tall brick building, this is the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital (make sure you stay on the left side); the shelter is the first building on your right, you can use the visitor parking lot in front of the hospital.
