The mission of the CSBA is to maintain and support a lively commercial and business area and to enhance the quality of life in Central Square by advocating for and representing the interests of businesses, and contributing to a welcoming, interesting and energetic sense of place for working people, visitors, students and residents of all ages.
Description:
Central Square, Cambridge, the seat of city services and City Hall, features a rich variety of shops, restaurants, civic organizations, and other interesting establishments. Frequented by students and professors, business people, visitors, and residents, Central Square establishments offer a bit of everything, all in one convenient place. Our business association works to better this community, through events like ArtsCentral and other great activities that bring people to the Square.
History:
The Central Square Business Association (CSBA) was created in 1931 in order to address the commercial, industrial, and public interest needs of the Central Square area. Central Square has long been the shopping center of Cambridge and the CSBA began as a way to bring the various business owners, city officials and shoppers together in order to unify and promote the neighborhood. Throughout its over 75 year history, the CSBA has overseen the transformation and growth of Central Square. Drawing on the business owners' strong commitment to the neighborhood, the CSBA continues to make Central Square a great "Downtown Cambridge" destination.
