We have two mentoring programs that are in need of committed volunteers:

Elementary school program: Make a difference in the life of elementary or middle school-aged youth of promise in the Greater Boston area, who may be in foster care. The goal is to build a friendship with the youth and family, providing the social and emotional support necessary for success.

LINKS: Learning INdepedence Knowing Support: Offer a positive and consistent relationship with an adolescent from our Pre-Independent-Living girls’ program in Malden or our boys’ program in Dorchester, or our Independent Living program, who is “aging out” of state care. Assist in easing this young adult into adulthood, and provide continued support even if they leave a group or foster home. These are a hearty group of older teens who are trying to succeed with a history of challenges.

We're looking for adults who are caring, responsible, dedicated, patient, enjoy being with young people, open to the values and opinions of others and can expose them to fun, positive, and eye-opening experiences.

A commitment to meet with your mentee 4 hours a week for one full year and attend a bimonthly support and training group meeting is required. Training will be provided by the agency.

Volunteers should be able to meet the mentee in their home community, whether it is Cambridge, Malden, Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park, etc., which are almost all near the T.
All volunteers must be a minimum of 18 and must pass a CORI.
