East End House's Emergency Food Pantry helps approximately 130 households per month by supplementing their household food supply. The Food Pantry is open on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1-4 p.m., and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. We need dedicated volunteers to perform the following tasks:
- Work with the EFP Coordinator to determine schedule for restocking and cleaning of pantry.
- Help with intake/serving of individuals/families coming to the Food Pantry.
- Help with outreach - delivering flyers, making phone calls, etc.
Volunteers will take part in an orientation to East End House, the Greater Boston Food Bank and CEOC. Further on-site training includes Emergency Food Program policies, procedures for giving food, record keeping, etc.
A commitment of at least 3 hours/week for a period of 3 months is preferred.
Interested individuals must be responsible, reliable and able to work well with diverse types of people. They must be friendly and sensitive to individuals in need and distress. Volunteers must have the ability to lift bags, boxes and food items. Organizational skills, ability to follow directions/work independently and commitment to a regular schedule are a must.
