The mission of Sparrow Health System is to improve the health status of the people of Mid-Michigan by providing quality, compassionate, and cost effective health services that are accessible to all.
Description:
Imagine the possibilities! Sparrow Health System offers more than 40 different opportunities for volunteers to serve the people of our community. All of our positions are rewarding, and knowing the motivational needs of a new volunteer, we will work to find a good placement. Our volunteer roles offer a range of opportunties to meet new friends, patient support, insight into a career in health care, and the chance to develop leadership skills.
History:
Sparrow Health System was started 110 years ago by a group of volunteers known as the Women's Board of Managers. The founding board exists today and oversees the activities of the Volunteer Services Department. This collaboration has made Sparrow one of the largest volunteer programs in our region. In 1997, St. Lawrence Hospital joined the Sparrow family to form the Sparrow Health System. Together, we have over 1600 active volunteers serving both campuses. We continue to seek volunteers to help out with a variety of unique activities that support the people of our region and the Sparrow Health System. Please look at our website at www.sparrow.org or call 364-3606 for more information.
