The Mount Wachusett Community College Entrepreneurial Resource Center stimulates economic development and job creation through sound business management training, fostering innovation, and raising entrepreneurial spirit.
The Entrepreneurial Resource Center provides programs and services to catalyze small business development throughout every phase of business growth.
Description:
The ERC organizes an annual regional business plan competition that is open to the general public. The focus of competition is both economic and community development, making the design innovative, unique, and designed specifically for the North Central MA area. Cash prizes and small business service prizes are awarded.
The ERC offers an “Incubator Without Walls” membership. With membership a new or existing business is able to access these resources: 1) Use of Business Resource Library that includes both a Resource Computer and Reference Library; 2) Use of “board room” conference space; 3) Use of scanner, printer, digital camera, conference phone. These resources alone have a value of over $5000. Other benefits include participation in an Entrepreneur’s Network Group; entrance into the Business Plan Competition; and preferred rates on all non-credit seminars and on the Entrepreneurial Speaker Series. Three month, six month, and twelve month memberships are available.
The ERC offers noncredit seminars, as well as a credit bearing Entrepreneur Certificate. A noncredit certificate is in development stages.
The ERC is a member of United States Association of Small Business & Entrepreneurship (USASBE) and the National Association of Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE).
History:
The ERC opened in 2004 at the Devens Campus and was relocated to the Leominster Campus in 2006. The ERC was one of ten community colleges across the US to receive a Coleman Foundation grant for entrepreneurial programs.
The ERC is one of ten finalists from across the US for a Bellwether Award in the Planning, Governance & Finance Category. The Bellwether Awards annually recognize outstanding and innovative programs and practices that are successfully leading community colleges into the future. The Business Plan Competition is the program of focus for this award.
