Everyone has something to share!

Building individual relationships is an opportunity for you to share your interests, hobbies, and skills with someone we support. Taking into consideration factors such as personality, location, gender and age, our volunteer coordinator will help match you with an individual who shares your interests.

Whatever you enjoy – from indoor and outdoor recreational and leisure time activities to arts and crafts, music, and going to the movies or out to coffee – we know someone who does too! On the other hand, if an individual we support shares your interest, but does not know how to do that particular hobby or use that particular skill you can expand their horizons and enhance their quality of life by sharing your knowledge and teaching them something new. The possibilities are endless.

With support and training from Alternatives staff members, you can take whatever time is needed getting to know the person you have been matched with and forming a mutually trusting relationship. Once you have established a relationship, you may choose to spend more time together one-on-one pursuing any of a variety of shared interests, hobbies, and leisure time activities.

To volunteer with Alternatives you must fill out an application and interview with the Volunteer Coordinator. Also if you are 18 years old or older, you must pass a CORI.
