There are three two week summer sessions offered on site at HOPE House, beginning the week of July 7th and ending August 15. 20-22 children in grades 2-6 are served in each session; each child receives an hour of individual tutoring daily, which is the unique component of HOPE's program. Tutors work under the supervision of the Academic Director, a Master's level certified teacher; the sessions run Monday-Friday and tutors arrive by 9:00 and finish at 12:00 each day. All are invited to stay for lunch which is served at 12:30. A tutor is preferred to attend a full two week session, although other arrangements are sometimes made to accommodate a tutor's schedule.
All tutors are required to attend a training session that takes place prior to the opening of the first summer session. Any person with a teaching background is especially helpful, but that is not a requirement. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and willing to work with a variety of children. This opportunity is sponsored by: House Of Peace & Education, Inc.
