HOPE for Kids Summer Sessions Tutors/Mentors Teen Friendly Family Friendly New opportunity
Last updated on June 12, 2008

There are three two week summer sessions offered on site at HOPE House, beginning the week of July 7th and ending August 15. 20-22 children in grades 2-6 are served in each session; each child receives an hour of individual tutoring daily, which is the unique component of HOPE's program.

Tutors work under the supervision of the Academic Director, a Master's level certified teacher; the sessions run Monday-Friday and tutors arrive by 9:00 and finish at 12:00 each day. All are invited to stay for lunch which is served at 12:30. A tutor is preferred to attend a full two week session, although other arrangements are sometimes made to accommodate a tutor's schedule.

All tutors are required to attend a training session that takes place prior to the opening of the first summer session. Any person with a teaching background is especially helpful, but that is not a requirement. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and willing to work with a variety of children.
