The mission of the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival is to encourage production of natural history programming around the world and raise the appreciation and awareness toward wild creatures and habitats through the innovative use of media.
Description:
The Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival (JHWFF) is a biennial international film industry event, attracting over 650 leaders in science, conservation, and media to our community. Delegates from over 25 countries participated in the week-long retreat featuring an exceptional slate of seminars, keynotes, screenings, and networking events. The film competition honors the world’s finest nature films, with 19 prestigious awards to be chosen from an estimated 700 entries, in October 2007. JHWFF is equally committed to creating multidisciplinary education and community enrichment opportunities. Our October, 2007 Community Festival attracted over 2,000 local participants for special filmmaker screenings, lectures and public events. In September 2008, in partnership with the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, JHWFF will present a Non Broadcast Media Symposium, inviting 350 applied media professionals and executives from public institutions to come to Jackson for 3 days. From high-end large format and 3-D programming to web-distributed educational outreach options, content creators and tech support industries will meet with media professionals from museums, zoos, aquariums, parks and other public institutions to explore this interface market. Beyond its industry/professional focus, JHWFF continues to develop our tremendously successful year-round education programming through innovative partnerships with other community organizations and the public schools. Integrating art, film and literature with earth sciences and natural history these programs engage over 8,000 students per year.
