The mission of RSVP is to build a stronger Chittenden County by mobilizing volunteers, age 55 and over, to improve people’s lives and our community. Through a personalized, one-to-one approach to tapping the talents of these adults, RSVP helps people optimize the use of their time and talents in finding rewarding volunteer opportunities that build the capacity of non-profit organizations and make a difference in the community.
Description:
RSVP is a personalized volunteer placement service for people age 55 and over who are eager to do something that makes a difference in their community. We help people thoughtfully link their skills and interests with the volunteer needs in our community. RSVP goes above and beyond just referring individuals to available volunteer opportunities. We partner with selected non-profit agencies who are screened for strong volunteer management, meet critical community needs and welcome the life experience, talents and expertise of RSVP volunteers. When our coordinators meet with you and take the time to get to know you, they can help you search for volunteer positions at these agencies that match your unique skills and fit your interests and availability. We also recruit volunteers for programs developed by us to meet specific needs in the community. Currently our RSVP programs include School Buddies, a school based mentoring program; Bulk Mailing, a group of "on call" volunteers who assist nonprofits with mailing projects; Crafty Hands Warm Hearts, a group of home knitters whose items such as hats, mittens and scarves are distributed to local nonprofits; and A Matter of Balance, a fall prevention program. If you want to experience the rewards of volunteering, we can help find the right opportunity for you. Contact us!
