LIFESPAN’s mission is to enrich the quality of life, the dignity, and the independence of older adults by addressing the problems that often come with chronic illnesses of aging – and engaging senior volunteers to meet most of the needs.

Description:
Here is a short description of LIFESPAN Resources main programs:

Medical Escort Transportation volunteers drive older adults to medical appointments, remain in the waiting room for them, and pick up prescriptions on the drive home if needed. This service is free with the exception of parking fees.

Faith in Action Friends & Neighbors (FIA) provides informal care giving services to people, 50 or older, who are chronically ill and have social and/or physical needs. This program improves the care receivers' quality of life, and helps them to live independently. Informal caregiving includes visitation and/or help with simple everyday tasks by volunteer caregivers.

Day Club for early memory loss senior, is a professionally structured respite program designed to provide older adults who have physical or cognitive limitations an out-of-home opportunity for a planned social, educational and recreational program. Respite support for their caregivers is an ancillary goal. Day Club is offered Monday and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. With the expansion to an all-day program our numbers of participants have grown. We are also providing a monthly support group for family caregivers.

Lunch n' Learn offers educational programs to seniors at a nominal cost. It is held quarterly with various curricula in 13-15 classes taught by volunteer professors and instructors. Local community congregations donate the space for each quarter of Lunch n' Learn. Camaraderie and sharing a hot meal add to the reasons for participating.
