Our vision is to provide the highest quality adult basic education services to all those in need; to build partnerships with students and the community; to support students' aspirations to move on to higher education and training opportunities.
Description:
PCAE provides free classes in GED preparation, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), adult literacy and citizenship in the morning, afternoon and evening throughout a variety of locations within Tucson and Pima County. In addition to our "regular" program, PCAE offers these classes to a number of specific populations including refugees, homeless and transitional housing clients, students with developmental disabilities and parents of pre-school age children who are at-risk of not graduating high school within our Family Literacy program.
History:
Pima College Adult Education was formerly known as Pima County Adult Education which was founded in 1968. In July of 2000 it merged with Pima Community College and became part of Pima's Community Campus. In 1992 and in 2000, PCAE was a recipient of the Secretary's Award, an honor bestowed by the U.S. Secretary of Education upon the ten most outstanding adult education programs in the country.
