The mission of the Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) is to represent individual citizens, users and community groups who are concerned for the preservation and restoration of the Wissahickon portion of Fairmount Park, and its protection through balanced use.
Description:
The Friends shall provide leadership, education and coordination for their various activities on behalf of the Wissahickon, and shall develop broad community support for this unique natural asset.
History:
For over 80 years, volunteers have cared for the Wissahickon Valley. Volunteers are the people who carry out our mission to preserve and protect the Wissahickon Valley. Throughout the year, volunteers work individually and in teams to plant trees, remove vines, repair trails, clean up graffiti and trash, serve on committees and assist with administrative tasks. Volunteers are rewarded with the satisfaction of nurturing the Wissahickon and its wildlife.
