A Line-Dance Instructor Volunteer is needed for our adult mental health center located in Austell. The volunteer would serve one Friday afternoon a month, for approximately 1 hour each time. The people who are served at this center are adults who have mental illnesses, such as chronic depression, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. They attend the center for several hours each weekday. Often the people served here feel lonely and isolated from, and even rejected by, the community. Some also experience health problems, such as obesity and diabetes. Line dancing would provide a very enjoyable form of much-needed exercise. In addition, having volunteers from the community show that there are people who do care about them. Your efforts as a volunteer at the center would be very much appreciated by many people, and you would truly be making a difference in their lives!
The application process includes a background check, drug screening and TB test, as well as a 1-hour orientation. It is possible to volunteer for one time to see if this would work out for the volunteer before going through the complete application process. In that case, only a very brief orientation would be required beforehand. After that single volunteer event, the decision could be made to continue with the rest of the process.
