Provide opportunities to improve the quality of life in Utah through parks, programs and employees serving the public. The division is very customer oriented and strives to make all visitors excited to return.

Description:
Antelope Island State Park is 28,000 acre island park surrounded by Great Salt Lake. The park receives close to 1 million visitors a year. Most of our visitors are from other countries. We are beginning to see more visitation from our local communities. Antelope Island is home to bison, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, mule deer, many migratory birds, birds of prey, coyote, bobcat and rabbits. It is a very scenic area that will capture your heart. Visitor Center: Volunteers at the visitor center assist full-time staff in daily operation of gift shop, media room and visitor services. This position will provide information to the visiting public about Great Salt Lake, Antelope Island State Park, Fielding Garr Ranch and surrounding areas. 4-hour minimum commitment per month. Fielding Garr Ranch: Volunteers at the ranch will rove around and provide information to the visiting public about Fielding Garr Ranch, Great Salt Lake, Antelope Island State Park and surrounding areas. 4-hour minimum commitment per month. Trail Patrol: Volunteers will run, hike, bike or horseback ride the various trails at Antelope Island State Park and provide information to the visiting public about Fielding Garr Ranch, Great Salt Lake, Antelope Island State Park and surrounding areas. Volunteers must provide their own equipment and horses, and must be able to complete Community CPR and First-Aid training after orientation. 10-hour minimum commitment per month. Educational Docent: Volunteers will assist the park naturalist in environmental education programming, projects or interpretive programs. 4-hour minimum commitment per month. For more information, please contact Crystal Carpenter @ (801) 721-9569 or crystalcarpenter@utah.gov

History:
Antelope Island State Park opened to the public in 1969 with only 2000 acres to the park. In 1983, the causeway to the island was destroyed by Great Salt Lake flooding and caused the park to be closed. 10 years later in 1993, the park reopened with some facilities and 28,000 acres of land.

Directions:
 Take the Syracuse exit (332) off of I-15. Head west off the off-ramp along Antelope Drive. You will continue west on Antelope Drive to the end. The entrance gate will be at the end of Antelope Drive.
