Clearfield City's Community Service Dept. mission is to enhance the quality of life in Clearfield City by offering residents the opportunity to participate in leisure time activities of their choice with all services being provided in a courteous and professinal manner by employees dedicated to excellence.

Description:
Clearfield City's Community Services Department is responsible for the Parks, Recreation, Cemetary and city-owned buildings in Clearfield. The Community Services department includes the Clearfield Aquatic Center and all of their fitness programs, swimming lessons, etc. The Youth Resource Center is also run by this department, as well as all of the youth and adult sports programs. City-wide special events are organized by the Community Services department such as the Easter Egg Dive and Hunt, 4th of July Festival, Community Band events, Boo-nanza, Breakfast with Santa, Community Theatre, etc.

History:
Clearfield has been a city since 1877 - originally known as "Sand Ridge" (Indian warriors and hunters referred to this area as the land of wind and sand), settlers changed the name to Clearfield in order to attract farmers. The great event that did more to transform the bleak "Sand Ridge" into a fertile garden spot was the coming of the Davis & Weber Counties canal in 1884. This immediately increased the population of the area with people plowing up the sagebrush, cactus and prickly pears and building homes and farms all over the area. The rest, as they say, is history...

Directions:

From I-15 use exit 334, go west on SR-193. Turn right on State Street. The city building is about 1.5 miles from that intersection on the east side of the street.
