Chronically ill older adults need frequent respite care to protect the physical and mental well-being of their primary caregiver. Respite is "time off" for the primary caregiver to engage in personal, recreational and restful activities, such as going to a doctor's appointment, running errands, lunching or shopping with friends, having a manicure exercising, attending a family event or taking a vacation. These periods away from their primary care giving responsibilities may be for a few hours or longer periods, depending upon the intensity of the care giving experience and the unique needs of the primary caregiver. Respite care can be equally beneficial for the older care recipient who might welcome and enjoy attention and visits from a volunteer support caregiver. Another benefit is the flexible schedule for the volunteer. Valid Drivers License. Appropriate Automobile Insurance. 12 Hours Hospice Training. Back Ground Check. T.B. Testing ( Tuberculoses ).
