Nokomis believes that every child deserves quality care. We provide childcare services on a sliding fee scale to families in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Priority enrollment is given to families experiencing financial difficulties, children at-risk of abuse and neglect, and children with emotional or behavioral problems.
Description:
Nokomis has two locations in Fargo. Nokomis I is located at 618 23rd St. S. in Fargo and is licensed to provide care for 66 children. The center has five classrooms serving children ages birth through five. Nokomis II is located at 1620 16th Ave. S. in Fargo and is licensed to provide care for 100 children. The center has seven classrooms serving children ages birth through kindergarten during the school year and up to age ten in our summer school age program.
History:
Nokomis experienced several openings and closings during the 1970's and lost federal funding in the early 80's. In 1981 Nokomis incorporated as a private nonprofit agency with 501c3 status. In 1991 Nokomis II opened due to the large demand for affordable childcare in the community. Nokomis II moved to a larger facility during the summer of 2003. We rely on funding from grants and donations from individuals and businesses in the community. Nokomis is proud to be a United Way agency.
