The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
Description:
Dress for Success solves the "Catch-22" dilemma of women trying to enter the workforce; How can a woman get a job if she can't afford to buy a suit? How can she buy a suit without a job? Each Dress for Success client receives two suits, tops, shoes, purse, nylons, cosmetics, interview tips for her interview. Once she has obtained employment she will receive four or five additional business appropriate outfits. After the women obtain a job, they will be invited to join the P.W.G. which is short for The Professional Women's Group a job retention program which provides ongoing support to help retain her job and further her career.
History:
Dress for Success was started in 1997 in New York City and now has more than 79 affiliates in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand and the Netherlands. Dress for Success has suited more than 300,000 since 1997. Dress for Success NW Minnesota begun in 1998, since has suited more than 1,000 women.
