The Red River Zoological Society is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1993 to foster awareness and appreciation of wildlife, to advance public education on the need for wildlife conservation and preservation, to exchange information and services with individuals and organizations interested in wildlife topics and to develop and construct the Red River Zoo in Fargo, North Dakota.
Description:
The Red River Zoological Society has a current base of over 1,200 members representing approximately 4,500 individuals. The Red River Zoological Society leases 33 acres of land from the Fargo Park District for the construction of the Red River Zoo. The Red River Zoo is home to over 300 animals that represent over 75 species. Currently the Zoo has developed 13 acres with thirteen outdoor exhibit complexes featuring animals and plants from eastern Asia and North American Great Plains. Twenty-one indoor exhibits in the Entrance Barn focus on wildlife that requires a more controlled environment. The animal collection focuses primarily on animals of northern Asia and North America. The Zoo is funded exclusively through philanthropic donations of cash and in-kind services.
