The volunteers will be a part of a CERT team in the community to help emergency personnel in the event of a disaster or emergency. The CERT course will benefit any citizen who takes it. This individual will be better prepared to respond to and cope with the aftermath of a disaster. The classroom training will prepare each participant for a mock disaster that will take place on the last day of training. CERT Training promotes a partnering effort between emergency services and the people that they serve. The goal is for emergency personnel to train members of neighborhoods, community organizations, or workplaces in basic response skills. CERT members are them integrated into the emergency response capability for their area.
Volunteers must live or work in Cass or Clay Counties. There is a 12-14 hour training course and mock disaster that volunteers must participate in. All training times listed must be attended to receive certificate of completion. This opportunity is sponsored by: FirstLink Volunteer Center
