Community Food Share
| Last updated on June 18, 2008 |
Community Food Share's mission is to ensure that people in Boulder and Broomfield Counties are food secure.
Description:
In'07, we distributed 4.5 million meals (1pound=1meal)through 63 member agencies & our direct service programs. All food is distributed free of charge. 85% of our food is donated from local grocery stores, manufacturers and from national food industry sources. Remaining 15% is purchased on the wholesale market. The majority of people served by CFS and our member agencies are the "working poor". About 45,000 people live at or below the local poverty line in Boulder and Broomfield Counties - enough to fill Folsom Field!
History:
Community Food Share has been serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties for over 27 years. In 1999 we moved to our current facility near Niwot and distributed 1.4 million meals. At a projected 5 million meals for 2008, we are operating at 95% capacity.
